Webinar: Securing the Increasingly Vulnerable IoT Attack Surface

What will it take to secure an increasingly exposed and vulnerable embedded/IoT attack surface?

By 2023, global spending on Internet of things (IoT) devices will exceed $1 trillion annually1. By 2025, the number of deployed IoT devices will reach 25 billion2 and generate over 79 zettabytes (ZB) of data3. These network-connected devices will be extremely diverse, ranging from smart home products to medical devices, autonomous vehicles to factory-floor robotics systems, all of which utilize networks of sensors to optimize manufacturing processes in real time.

Yet, widespread concerns remain about the vulnerability of these devices to cyberattacks. According to a recent survey4, the number of organizations suffering data breaches related to IoT increased from 15% in 2017 to 26% in 2019. This trend is likely to continue to accelerate as threat actors develop new tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for specifically targeting vulnerable devices. BlackBerry profiled two of these threats, Gafgyt and Mirai, in our 2020 Threat Report.

Join us Wednesday, May 27th to learn how BlackBerry Consulting enables device makers and end-user organizations to strengthen their IoT defenses against these evolving threats. During this security briefing, BlackBerry Embedded/IoT Consulting Practice Director Robert Portvliet will provide:

  • Attack surface and vulnerability profiles for medical devices, industrial control systems, automotive systems, commercial and consumer electronics systems, and more
  • Discussion of the static and dynamic analysis methods attackers use to discover device vulnerabilities
  • Real-world case studies that illustrate how BlackBerry Consulting demonstrated how exploits of these vulnerabilities can be used to compromise enterprise networks and cloud-connected IoT deployments
  • Guidelines for manufacturers to build devices with more robust security defenses

Whether your role is to design or to manage IoT and embedded device deployments, you won’t want to miss this essential security briefing.
