IDC Names Cylance Leader in Specialized Threat Analysis and Protection

NEWS / 05.30.17 / The Cylance Team

IDC has named Cylance as a leader in their latest report, MarketScape: Worldwide Endpoint Specialized Threat Analysis and Protection 2017 Vendor Assessment, affirming that the company’s next-gen AI-powered solution is a robust “alternative to existing antivirus solutions.”

The report noted that Cylance customers who deployed CylancePROTECT® alongside their existing endpoint security tools quickly appreciated its “efficiency, efficacy, and low impact to PC resources.”

“The client is virtually invisible to end users,” the report continues. “The Cylance client can even run offline with no Internet connection.”

IDC also found that Cylance's innovative ThreatZERO® consulting service received accolades from customers who found value in its ability to “systematically enable prevention capabilities with little to no disruption to the business.”

Of note, IDC said that Cylance customers like the ease of use and the focus on “threat detection and blocking, rather than forensics and remediation tools” - powerful validation that pre-execution prevention is superior to post-execution incident response.

The report states that when “prevention capabilities are enabled, CylancePROTECT has the ability to stop all Windows PowerShell, active scripts, and a variety of malicious macro actions. The client software generally receives security and threat detection updates twice a year.”

The report also affirms Cylance’s advocacy for organizations to test products for themselves, saying that “while enterprises should take into account… publicly available test results, IDC believes the best way to thoroughly understand the efficacy of any security product is to test it in an organization's production environment.”

Cylance leverages the power of artificial intelligence, algorithmic science, and machine learning to predict both known and unknown attacks, proactively preventing malware execution and exploits to secure the most vulnerable aspect of the network – the endpoint. Preventing attacks reclaims the time and resources consumed by incident response, data loss, and system downtime.
